Ceylon Cinnamon Originally from Sri Lanka 

Ceylon grows primarily in Sri Lanka and isn’t as common. Ceylon cinnamon may sometimes be referred to as “true” cinnamon. Ceylon Cinnamon (Sri Lanka Kayu Manis/) because it is mild is used in far more complex recipes where Cinnamon does not take stage. It has more range and mixes well with many ingredients to create complex multi layered flavors. It can be used whole or broken into small pieces so the aroma and flavor come out.

You’ve probably sprinkled cinnamon on foods like toast, rolls, and desserts. But cinnamon has uses other than for topping sweets, including improving your health. Made of a combination of rich, exotic spices that have been dry-roasted and ground to a fine powder. This can be used for meats, seafood or vegetarian curries. It is so versatile that it can even be sprinkled over salads for an extra burst of flavor. It is also the best for making Cinnamon stick tea.

Cinnamon powder, on the other hand, is more convenient to use compared to cinnamon sticks, and is as good as the stick form. A small spoonful of this powder is guaranteed to elevate the taste of food. However, using whole Cinnamon sticks tends to give a fresher taste than using powder form. Cinnamon sticks have higher levels of the oils that make Cinnamon so compelling. And sometimes, like in rice or cinnamon stick tea you just can't use powder. It would be messy.

Suggested Use

The warming, spicy flavor of cinnamon makes it a good complement to winter foods such as stews and hot beverages, as well as spicy foods like curries and moles. It is also a staple in baked goods, and can be added to fresh fruit, black beans and cereals.
