Five Eyes and Four Ears legend:

Once upon a time, there was a young man whose parents died when he was young and he was left alone. He made a living by farming every day, but encountered a rare drought that caused the farm to have no harvest. When the young man in trouble was worried about his livelihood, he received the mercy of the gods and sent the five-eyed four-eared monkey to help the young man through the difficulties.

But there is also a legend that the five-eyed four-eared monkey is the incarnation of the god Pai Yan to test the world's spirit beasts, and came to the world to test the love and kindness of the young man.

 When the five-eyed and four-eared monkey came down to the mortal world, they destroyed all the young man's few remaining fields in the drought. The young man was very desperate and angry when he found out. He tried his best to catch the "monster" and trapped it in a wooden cage. The idea of killing it appeared in the young man's mind again and again, but when he saw the "five-eyed and four-eared monkey" trembling all over, he couldn't bear it and felt pity in his heart, so he used charcoal to make a fire to keep it warm, and then the young man went back to the room to sleep. In the middle of the night, when the young man went to the wooden house to "check" the monster again, he saw a lot of gold on the ground. It turned out that the five-eyed and four-eared monkey was formed by the feces excreted after eating charcoal.

Later, the young man learned that the five-eyed and four-eared monkey was sent by the heaven to test him. Seeing the young man's suffering and loving gods, they instructed the speechless four-eared monkey to help him get out of the hardship, and all this was the blessing given by the young man for his actions to be recognized by the heaven.
