New, unpainted surfaces
Allow surfaces to cure and dry out within 1-3 weeks (moisture content must be less than 20%). Large cracks must be repaired with cement; sand mix and rendered smooth. Make good all minor defects with appropriate patching materials. Remove all loosely adhering residues by thorough brushing
Repainting
Check for powders or chalk. These surface contaminants must be completely removed by washing with warm water and detergent solutions. Rinse with clean water, taking care to change the rinsing water regularly. If after thorough preparation the surface is still slightly powdery, it may be necessary to seal it with PAR Plasterseal solvent-based wall sealer. Dilute the sealer up to 30% and apply liberally to allow the sealer to fully penetrate the surface and form a barrier that seals up the chalk.
