Rudraksha beads are the seeds of a fruit. The Rudraksha tree is addressed as the Elaeocarpus Ganitrus Roxb in the botanical world and the seeds from the fruit of this tree are the mystical Rudraksha. The clefts or lines on the thorny surface of this bead are called Mukhis (faces). The islands of Java, Sumatra, Borneo, Bali, Timor, modern day Indonesia and certain parts of Nepal house the magnificent Rudraksha tree. This is where it grows in abundance. If the percentage of trees based only on geographic distribution was to be considered, then 70% are found in Indonesia. Nepal stands at 25% and India at 5%. It is the Nepal trees that produce larger Rudraksha seeds of high quality.
Traditionally Rudraksha beads have been used very commonly in Asia. The Yogis and monks wore them continuously, especially during spiritual practices. The beads empowered them to experience spectacular control over the mind. Thus wearing the Rudraksha helped them meditate for a long span of time while experiencing tranquillity, concentration and stillness.
Everybody can definitely wear a single or different combination of Rudraksha. There are no restrictions on wearing Rudraksha based on age, culture, gender, geographic location, religious background, food habits etc. Wearing Rudraksha is a matter of individual faith and willingness.
Note: Each individual may require different face/mukhi or a combination of beads..One must consult with a proffesional astrolger or a expert before buying the Rudraksha
