Product description

Floating Aquatic Plants available in 4 types:
1. Red Floater
Red Root Floaters, or Phyllanthus Fluitans, is a floating plant that is known and highly desired for its bright red roots and underside. Under high lighting, its leaves can turn completely red! This hardy plant propagates quickly and can provide shade to areas of the aquarium, which will encourage more reclusive species to come out of hiding. This is a truly beautiful and very beneficial plant for aquariums with gentle water flow. It is best kept in an aquarium with gentle water flow. Under these simple conditions, it will multiply very quickly and provide significant denitrification as well as oxygenation, which is particularly important in aquariums. Like most plants, Red Root Floater will benefit from supplementation such as Seachem Flourish, Flourish Excel, nitrogen, iron, and other plant supplements.

Bright red roots and underside under any lighting - Overall red leaves under high lighting - Provides shade to areas of the aquarium - Very hardy and durable in low water flow.

2. Salvinia Auriculata (Kiambang Lipan)
Salvinia is a free floating aquatic fern that is native to America. These floating plants have long feathery roots (modified leaves) which are very efficient in removing wastes such as excess nitrates from the water column, thereby helping to keep your aquarium water clean and clear. In addition, these feathery roots provide good hiding places for fish fry and can be used as breeding platform for fishes.

Salvinia is usually cultivated in pond/aquarium as it can help to prevent algae by shading parts of the pond/aquarium and adding an aesthetically natural look to them.

3.Mosquito Ferns Azolla
Mosquito fern is a small attractive floating plant that has numerous overlapping scale-like leaves. Much like duckweed, it tends to cover surface of water bodies that is rich in nutrient. Unlike duckweed, a mosquito fern has the ability to change the leaf colour to brownish red under high lighting making it a unique addition to aquariums or ponds. Due to its tendency to cover the entire water surface, it can help in countering algae as well as depleting any excess nutrients.

Dense colonies of mosquito fern often harbor many microorganisms such as zooplankton which can be used as fish food. Due to its association with nitrogen-fixing cynobacterium, it contains relatively high levels of nitrogen, making it suitable for livestock feeding and aquaculture.
