Product description
SMART EPOXY BE5 FINISH is a two-component, amine-adduct cured epoxy coating designed for application on steel and concrete surfaces. It offers excellent resistance to chemicals, oils, water, and abrasion, making it suitable for industrial floors and steel structures.
Key Features:
•Composition: The product consists of a base (4.15 liters) and a hardener (0.85 liters), combining to form a 5-liter set.
•Pigmentation and Binder: Utilizes lightfast non-lead pigments and mineral extenders, with an epoxy resin binder.
•Volume Solids: Approximately 51% ± 3% by volume, though this may vary with different colors.
•Finish and Color: Provides a gloss finish, with colors available as per the manufacturer's color card.
Application Details:
•Theoretical Coverage: Approximately 10.2 square meters per liter for a dry film thickness of 50 microns; actual coverage may vary based on substrate conditions.
•Drying Times:Touch Dry: 2-3 hoursDry to Overcoat: 6 hoursFull Cure: 6-7 days
•Recoating Interval: Minimum of 6 hours between coats.
•Pot Life: 6-8 hours after mixing, depending on ambient temperature.
Application Methods:
•Brush or Roller: Thinning is typically unnecessary; if needed, thin with a maximum of 5% thinner.
•Conventional Air Spray: Thin with up to 10% thinner.
•Airless Spray: Usually ready for use; if required, thin with 10-15% thinner.
Surface Preparation:
•Steel Surfaces: Clean to remove mill scale and rust. Abrasive blast cleaning to a minimum of Sa 2½ (ISO 8501-1:1998) is recommended. Ensure the surface is free from abrasive residues, dirt, oil, grease, and other contaminants before painting.
•Concrete Surfaces: Treat with approximately 5% sulfuric acid solution until effervescence ceases. Wash thoroughly with clean water and allow to dry completely before coating.
Recommended Coating System:
•For Metal: Apply 2-3 coats of SMART EPOXY BE5 FINISH.
•For Concrete Flooring: Use a primer clear coat followed by 2-3 coats of SMART EPOXY BE5 FINISH.
Additional Notes:
•Avoid exposing the paint film to water, chemicals, or abrasion before it fully cures.
•If overcoating is delayed beyond 6-7 days, it's advisable to roughen the surface by dry sanding to ensure proper adhesion.
•In case of chalking, remove chalk deposits by water washing and allow the surface to dry thoroughly before overcoating.
