Growth habit

Lettuce likes a cold environment. The suitable temperature for growth is 15°C-30°C, and the growth period is 90-100 days. The seeds are more resistant to low temperatures and can germinate at 4°C. The suitable temperature for germination is 18-30℃, and there is almost no germination when it is higher than 40℃.

During the plant growth period, it likes a cold climate. It is the most suitable to grow at 15-30℃, with high yield and good quality; if it is continuously above 30℃, the growth is poor, the leaves are rough and old, and slightly bitter. However, it is also very resistant to cold, and even short-term sub-zero temperatures at 0°C have no major impact on growth.

Lettuce is suitable for slightly acidic soil. It is planted in soil with rich organic matter, which has strong water retention, fertility retention, high yield and good quality; if planted in arid and water-deficient soil, the root system is not fully developed, the growth is not sufficient, the vegetable tastes slightly bitter, and the quality difference. The suitable soil pH value is 5.8-6.6.

Planting method

The seeds of lettuce are very small and light. You need to mix them with sand and spread them evenly on the seedling bed, covering 0.5-1cm of soil.

After sowing, keep the seedbed temperature between 8-20℃, keep it well ventilated and avoid exposure to the sun; when the seeds germinate and grow 2-3 leaves, they can be planted.

The root system of lettuce is weak, so the seedlings should be brought up with the soil when planting; when planting, keep the spacing 4x4cm; after planting, fertilize once, and then irrigate once.
