The KIWI Knife since 1978
The KIWI knife legacy began in 1978 in a small village outside of Bangkok, Thailand. Local blacksmith Supachai Chayakul devoted himself to handcrafting high-quality knives and machetes for area farmers and fishermen.
Using centuries-old bladesmith techniques, Chayakul carefully forged each knife to create superb sharpness and durability. His eye for detail produced blades with perfect balance and comfort.
The KIWI name was chosen by Chayakul to represent the integrity and values he infused in each knife – reliability, precision, and honesty. The kiwi bird icon became the brand’s symbol of Thai craftsmanship.
By the 1990s, KIWI had expanded from a one-man operation to a workshop employing several skilled knife makers. While still hand-grinding blades, technology was introduced to augment consistency and efficiency while maintaining diligent quality control.
Today, KIWI Knives continues Chayakul’s commitment to excellence. Drawing from Thailand’s rich blade-making traditions, KIWI knives are trusted kitchen tools relied on by professional chefs and home cooks across the world who value authentic Thai craftsmanship.
