Magnesium chloride is a magnesium salt that includes chlorine — an unstable element that binds well with other elements, including sodium and magnesium, to form salts.

-It’s well absorbed in your digestive tract, making it a great multi-purpose supplement. You can use it to treat low magnesium levels.

-People take magnesium chloride most frequently in capsule or tablet form, but it may also be an ingredient in topical products like lotions and ointments.

-Although people use these skin creams to soothe and relax sore muscles, little scientific evidence links them to improved magnesium levels.

In addition to the production of magnesium metal, magnesium chloride also is used for a variety of other applications: fertilizer, mineral supplement for animals, wastewater treatment, wallboard, artificial seawater, feed supplement, textiles, paper, fireproofing agents, cements and refrigeration brine.

Magnesium chloride also is used in several medical and skin related applications. It has been used in pills as supplemental sources of magnesium, as it is more bioavailable than other Magnesium compounds such as Magnesium Hydroxide and Magnesium Oxide.

-In topical applications, Magnesium Chloride can be easily absorbed by the skin cells, it improves skin hydration as well as speeds up wound healing processes. Topical application is effected with a 35% solution of Magnesium Chloride in water known as Magnesium Oil, due to the oily texture of the solution.
