️This is a medium to tall size lotus.
The blooms diameter is about 15cm.
️Runner/tuber is sent out bare rooted.
️
Instruction:
- Use pot without hole.
- Dig a shallow trench on the mud, place the roots in the trench, being careful not to break the growth tips, gently bring some mud around the runner/tuber by keeping the growth tips exposed.
- Add 2-3 inches of water above the mud.
- Place the pot in the morning sun. Within a week or so you should have coin leaves on the surface of the water.
- Once you have aerial leaves (not coin leaves) growing out of the water, press 1/2 kokei nugget inside the mud.
*Do not bury the runner/tuber completely in the mud, it will rot. Make sure it's embedded only slightly at the surface.
Once established:
- Transfer the lotus to your pond/bigger container pond where it receives full sun. It can grow in 20-30cm deep of water.
- If potted it requires minimum 50cm width pot to produce blooms.
- Grow well in heavy and loamy topsoil or clay mud.
- Recommended to receive minimum 6 hours of sun light per day.
- Press the kokei tabs into the soil near the roots twice per month. Apply more when necessary.
Lotus is commonly deemed the sacred aquatic plant with large showy flowers. Ideal for outdoor garden or high rise sunny balcony.
