Aquacel Ag+ Extra Dressing is a soft, sterile, non-woven dressing made from two layers of sodium carboxymethylcellulose impregnated with 1.2% ionic silver, enhanced by ethylenediaminetetra-acetic acid di-sodium salt (EDTA) and benzethonium chloride (BeCl), and strengthened by regenerated cellulose fiber. It absorbs high amounts of wound fluid and bacteria and creates a soft, cohesive gel that intimately conforms to the wound surface, maintains a moist environment and aids in the removal of non-viable tissue from the wound. The moist environment aids in the healing process and reduces the risk of infections. The ionic silver in the dressing creates an antimicrobial barrier to protect the wound bed.
Indication: Suitable for the management of:
•- wounds as an antimicrobial barrier
•- wounds where there is infection or a risk of infection
•- diabetic foot ulcers, leg ulcers (venous stasis ulcers, arterial ulcers) and pressure ulcers/sores (partial or full thickness)
•- Surgical wounds
•- Traumatic wounds
•- Wounds that are prone to bleeding
•- Oncology wounds with exudate
•- Wounds where bacteria are a suspected cause of chronicity/non-progression
Directions for use:
•- Clean wound
•- Cut dressing to desired size (leaving 1cm extra to overlap on to the surrounding skin)
•- Apply dressing onto wound
•- Cover with a secondary dressing
