Product description
A versatile food product derived from soybeans, these Textured Vegetable Protein granules are a fantastic quick meat substitute for a multitude of meals. Great for pasta sauces, in tacos, for making your own veggie burgers, meatloaf or soy meatballs, wherever you need a hearty addition, TVP is the solution!
TVP is high in protein, fiber and iron and completely free of cholesterol and fat. It has a chewy consistency similar to meat and will take on the flavor of whatever dish you are cooking.
Ingredients: Textured vegetable protein (TVP), water, vegetable oil, Soy Protein (Non-GMO), sugar, salt, vegetarian seasonings.
Allergen: Soybeans. May contain traces of wheat and nuts.
Storage: Store in a cool dry place. Refrigerated after opening.

1 x Vegetable stock cube, dissolved in the boiling water
½ cup finely chopped onion
½ cup finely chopped parsley
1. In a large bowl mix water, stock, TVP, water, tomato sauce, and basil. Let stand for 10 minutes
2. Saute onion in oil, add to the TVP mixture and stir through
3. Add the remaining ingredients and mix well
4. Lightly oil a loaf pan and pack mixture tightly in
5. Bake at 180C for 45 minutes
6. Leave in pan for 10 minutes to set and then turn out
(NB. This is great cold in sandwiches the next day too)

Not-Meatballs (FOR VEGANISM)
1/2 onion, finely chopped
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1 cup Vegetable stock (in our Food: Savoury section)
1. Fry TVP, onion, garlic, chili, oregano, salt, and tamari together until browned.
2. Combine stock and tomato juice and bring to the boil.
3. Add the boiling liquid to the frypan, turn off the heat and let stand for 15 minutes.
4. Add 1/2 cup flour and mix well.
5. Shape into small balls, pressing them together firmly.
6. Fry in oil or bake them in the oven (180C) until lightly browned.
7. Serve with spaghetti and tomato-based pasta sauce.
