Hydrocyn aqua – Advanced wound care is a wound wash, debridement and irrigation solution for chronic and acute wounds. It supports the wound healing process by protecting and keeping the wound clean and free from microorganism and contaminants. Hydrocyn aqua helps to: -Clean the wound -Reduce bacterial load -Reduce fetid odour -Support natural wound healing Mechanism of Action The active substance of the Hydrocyn aqua wound care portfolio is hypochlorous acid (HOCl), the same substance that the body’s immune cells use in its defence against infectious organisms. HOCl can penetrate the outer layer of bacteria, fungi and virus and thus cause damage inside the cell which leads to destruction of the cell function (and eventually cell death). Hydrocyn aqua has no negative effect on human cells and is biocompatible which means it does not cause any irritation to the body. Test results Hydrocyn aqua has been tested on several microorganisms following the ASTM E2315 standard test. The tests show that Hydrocyn aqua is effective against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria (including MRSA) fungi and spores.
