1. Requirements for lighting conditions
Dahlia likes half shade, too strong sunlight affects flowering, usually 10 to 12 hours of light, avoid direct sunlight when cultivating seedlings.
2. Requirements for temperature conditions
Dahlia likes a cool climate. In late September, they bloom the largest, most colorful, and most prosperous, but they are not tolerant to frost. The stems and leaves wither immediately after the frost. During the growth period, the temperature requirements are not strict, 8~35℃ can grow, 15~25℃ is appropriate.
3. Requirements for moisture
Dahlias are not tolerant of drought and waterlogging. Generally, potted plants should be watered if the soil is dry, so that they can see dryness; they can be drained in rainy days (ground plants do not need to be watered frequently).
Dahlia is suitable for cultivation in fertile sandy soil with loose soil and good drainage.
1. Preparation before broadcasting
Choose a seedling tray with a length of 50 cm, a width of 20 cm, and a height of 5 cm, first rinse with clean water, and then disinfect with 0.2% non-chloronitrobenzene.
Choose soil that is fine, uniform, free of rocks, pollution, rich in nutrients, and free of pests and diseases. The soil with good drainage and light salinity is suitable. The selected sowing substrates are garden soil and grass charcoal. It is generally made of garden soil, humus soil and river sand, with a ratio of 2:2:1, and disinfection with 2% pentachloronitrobenzene or high temperature disinfection. [9]
Wash the sterilized seedling tray with clean water before sowing. Seed immediately after the water seeps. Hotbeds are sown in mid-to-late March, and flowerbed varieties are sown in the open field in late April, and the seeds are sown on the soil. The large seeds are covered with moist, fine soil after sowing, and the thickness is 3 times the diameter of the seeds. After sowing, use bamboo poles to support the agricultural film, leaving gaps for ventilation, which is beneficial to increase soil temperature, reduce moisture, maintain soil moisture, and reduce soil compaction, so as to maintain the temperature and humidity required for seed germination. After sowing, put it at 20~25℃. After about 7 days after sowing, the seeds can germinate. Keep the soil moisture frequently. Divide the seedlings when they grow to 4~5 cm, water them thoroughly, and place them in the shade for 3~4 Day, then move to strong light, pay attention to timely watering, to maintain soil moisture.
(2) Post-broadcast management
Water according to soil moisture. Keep the soil wet between dry and dry. When the surface of the soil is slightly dry, moisturize it with the dipping method. The suitable temperature for seed germination is 19~21℃. Frequent ventilation after sowing is conducive to seed germination. Dahlia seeds need proper shade for germination. After the seedlings emerge neatly, the film should be gradually removed, and the seedlings should be moved to a sunny place. Turning the box at 180° every 2-3 days is conducive to the straight growth of seedlings.
