Product description
Petunia, a perennial herb, often cultivated for one or two years, height 20-45 cm; stems are creeping, covered with viscous pilose; leaves are soft, ovate, entire, alternate, upper leaves opposite; flowers Single, funnel-shaped, double-petaled flower-shaped, white, purple or red, with its color borders, very beautiful, flowering from April to frost; capsules; small seeds. Distributed in South America, it is now widely popular in various countries.
Like a warm and sunny environment. Intolerant of frost, afraid of rain and waterlogging. The suitable temperature for its growth is 13~18℃, and the temperature in winter is 4~10℃. If it is lower than 4℃, plant growth will stop. It can withstand high temperatures above 35℃ in summer. During the peak growth period in summer, sufficient water is required, especially in the summer high temperature season, water should be watered in the morning and evening to keep the pot soil moist. However, during the rainy season, heavy rain is very detrimental to the growth of petunia. If the pot soil is too wet, the stems and leaves are prone to lengthen. There is a lot of rain during the flowering period, and the flowers are easy to fade or rot. If the pot soil has accumulated water for a long time, the rotten roots will die. Therefore, potted petunia should use loose, fertile and well-drained sandy loam soil. It is a long-day plant and requires sufficient sunlight during the growth period. Under normal light conditions, it takes about 100 days from sowing to flowering.
Petunia seed planting method
The first step of planting petunia seeds is to choose seeds, and you must choose full and healthy seeds for sowing. Afterwards, the seeds can be soaked in clean water for 24 hours to allow the seeds to absorb sufficient water to shorten the germination time. Petunia seeds germinate best at 18-25°C, so they can be sown in autumn.
The second step of the planting method is to choose the flower pots to be planted. You can choose tile pots and ceramic flower pots for planting. The earthenware pot is made of clay and has good air permeability and drainage, which is very suitable for planting; the ceramic flowerpot is made of ceramic mud, and the air permeability and drainage are a little bit worse than that of the earthenware pot, but it is also OK.
The soil for planting petunia can be prepared by mixing leaf soil, garden soil, and river sand. If you think it is troublesome to mix with soil, you can also go to the flower shop to buy special nutrient soil to grow petunia. Just drop the nutrient solution in the nutrient soil to plant it. Petunia likes shade, and plant pots should be placed in a ventilated and semi-shady place when planting.
The fourth step of the planting method is watering. Petunia has a greater need for water. It needs to be watered once every three days, and every day in summer. In winter, when the temperature is low, water it once or twice a week. When planting petunia, it is best to control the temperature at 10-20°C, and let it receive 8 hours of light every day.
