Fluval Bio-Stratum is the ideal substrate for stimulating the growth of aquatic plants in freshwater aquariums. Contains a powerful mix of nutrients, minerals and trace elements, exclusively available to plants that will make them flourish. Planit roots easily penetrate and spread throughout the substrate. Promotes healthy plant development, vigorous growth and vibrant colors.

ENHANCED BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITY

Providing the same powerful mix of nutrients and minerals as original Stratum for explosive plant growth, Fluval's All-New Bio-Stratum is infused with BENEFICIAL "BIOACTIVE" BACTERIA that will break down waste, kickstart the nitrogen cycle and rapidly reduce ammonia levels to help stabilize water conditions in new aquariums and keep the established aquariums healthy. Acting as an additional source of biological filtration, Bio-Stratum's smaller powder format granules are porous and non-compacting, which further promote bacterial colonization and enhanced water quality.

IDEAL FOR FINE & DELICATE ROOT SYSTEMS

At only 1-3 mm in diameter, Bio-Stratum's lightweight powder granules are non-compacting, allowing the finest and more delicate roots to easily penetrate and spread throughout the porous substrate. Ideal for use in smaller freshwater aquariums or as a top layer in larger tanks.

MAINTAINS IDEAL WATER PARAMETERS FOR PLANTED AQUARIUMS

Fluval Bio-Stratum's inherent properties will help support a neutral to slightly acidic pH, ideal for most plant species and species of tropical fish or shrimp normally kept in planted aquariums. Softens water naturally, reducing carbonate hardness (regular KH testing is recommended). Will not stain water and helps control organic discoloration.

DIRECTIONS

Gently rinse Fluval Bio-Stratum in a large colander or similar device without agitating the substrate to remove fine dust particles. Place the quantity required into an empty aquarium. Place a dish or something similar on top of Fluval Bio-Stratum when filling the aquarium to minimize disruption of the substrate. It may take several hours before aquarium water becomes clear, temporary turbidity is safe for shrimp and fish.

CAUTION

Do not stir the substrate. Do not mix with other gravels. Handle the granules with care when changing water.

IMPORTANT

When performing partial water changes avoid excessive turbulence of this substrate with a gravel washer. This substrate is not intended for use with fish that would actively dig and move it about the aquarium, not for use with fish such as many African and Central American cichlids or goldfish and koi. This product is not for use in marine or brackish water aquariums
