A two-piece ball valve belongs to the category of manual valves. A ball valve uses a spherical ball with a circular channel as the closing element. The ball rotates along the valve stem to control the opening and closing of the valve. The ball valve's closing element is a perforated sphere that rotates around a vertical axis, achieving the purpose of opening and closing the channel. Ball valves are primarily used for cutting off or connecting pipeline and equipment media and can also be used for fluid regulation and control. Ball valves offer the following advantages:
Low fluid resistance, with a resistance coefficient equal to that of the same length of pipe segment.
Simple structure, compact size, and lightweight.
Tight and reliable sealing. Ball valves commonly use plastic materials for sealing surfaces, which provides good sealing even in vacuum systems.
Easy operation, quick opening and closing. It only requires a 90-degree rotation from fully open to fully closed, making it suitable for remote control.
Convenient maintenance, with a simple structure and generally movable sealing rings that can be easily disassembled and replaced.
When fully open or fully closed, the sealing surface of the ball and the valve seat isolates from the media flow, preventing erosion of the sealing surface.
Wide range of applications, available in sizes from small millimeters to meters, suitable for high vacuum to high-pressure systems. When the ball rotates 90 degrees, it presents a spherical surface at the inlet and outlet, thereby cutting off the flow.
